Preparing our Daughter for the Triplets! 🥰
When we found out we were expecting triplets, our hearts were filled with joy—and a little bit of panic. But among all the planning and preparing, one of the most important things on our minds was how to help our daughter adjust to this big change. After all, she had been our only child, the center of our world, and soon she would become a big sister to not one, but three babies!
Preparing our daughter for the arrival of her siblings has been a beautiful journey of bonding, learning, and a lot of cuddles. We started by talking to her about what it means to be a big sister—how the babies would need lots of love, care, and time. We used books and videos to explain pregnancy and the arrival of newborns, making it fun and age-appropriate. Her eyes would light up whenever she saw pictures of babies, and soon enough, she began proudly saying, “I’m going to be a big sister!”
To help her feel involved, we brought her along to ultrasounds and let her help pick out clothes and nursery decorations. We even gave her a “big sister kit” with small toys, pretend diapers, and a doll so she could practice helping. It made her feel important, and more than that—it gave her ownership of her new role.
Of course, we made sure to talk about the changes ahead: that the babies would cry a lot, need attention, and that sometimes mommy and daddy would be very busy. But we reassured her that our love for her would never change. We carved out special one-on-one time for her, so she knew she’d always have our attention too.
Her favorite part? Talking to mommy’s belly. Every night, she’d gently pat my bump and say, “Goodnight babies!” with the sweetest smile. It melted our hearts and reminded us that even though the road ahead might be messy and loud, it would be filled with love.
Preparing our daughter for the triplets has been more than just getting ready for a change—it’s been about building a family that supports, includes, and celebrates each other. And we can’t wait to see her shine in her new role as the most loving big sister ever.
